Molecular Diagnosis of Infectious Agents

DNA testing for causal agents of infectious diseases is more specific and sensitive than other currently available methods. In contrast to other methods, DNA testing results can be obtained within a few hours. Most significantly, the presence of these organisms can be detected at an early stage of infection before serological responses appear, significantly narrowing the window period for diagnosis.
